Meet little Miss Emma,
Don't let her adorable cheeks and big lips fool you, she has many tricks up her sleeve. This sweetie pie is just as smart as she is cute. Allysa and Josh are going to have their hands full to the brim when she gets older! She made me laugh the entire time with her funny expressions and silly antics. I can't wait to watch her grow and to see how her big personality blossoms. Here are some photos of Emma enjoying one of her first baths in the tub and sink. She LOVES playing with the water as it comes out of the faucet.

Engagement: Alex & Cara
I was ecstatic when I heard that one of my old high school friends was getting married. Cara is one of the sweetest, bubbliest, most genuine people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I definitely love her from the bottom of my heart. Getting to take engagement photos of her and her fiance, Alex, was just icing on the cake of getting to spend some time with her. We had planned the shoot for weeks and my heart broke when I saw that it was supposed to be pouring. Since they live in Medford, and I live in Eugene, and we were meeting to shoot in Roseburg, rescheduling wasn't exactly a convenient option. (Especially since their wedding is at the beginning of June) Luckily, it just sprinkled most of the time except for some minor down pours. Everyone dealt with it well though and made the best of it (Even though we were all soaked by the time we went out for lunch). Regardless, it was an awesome day and only made me incredibly more excited for their wedding! These two are such an amazing match, and I can't wait to see them commit themselves to one another for the rest of their lives. Congratulations to the both of you and I can't wait till June!

Portraits: Rebecca
It's extremely important as a photographer to always stretch yourself and pursue shoots that artistically challenge or interest you. Because of this sentiment, I was excited to collaborate with Rebecca and Alisha. Alisha is probably the most style conscious person I know, and it all seems to come completely natural. I was ecstatic as soon as she began beauty school to potentially get to join forces on a project. When Rebecca came to me with her vision of doing two shoots with contrasting factors, I was stoked!!! The first shoot, the dark shoot, is what I have to show you today. Alisha did an amazing job on the hair and make-up. I was mouth-on-the-floor impressed with Rebecca's modeling. I knew she could do it, since I've always known her to be deeply intelligent, but this girl is such a bright, silly, giggle box all of the time, that it seems so odd seeing such dark ambiguity emerge from her. Bravo to the both of you! You really made this whole dream come to life! I hope you enjoy this set of images as much as I do! The second shoot is going to be equally amazing and I can't wait!

Behind the Scenes: Editing Practices
Here is a small look into what goes on behind the scenes while you're awaiting your photos. I treat every photograph differently and edit each individually. The first image is straight off the camera, followed by the final result. I hope you enjoy looking at the changes made!

Portrait: Natalie
I had the pleasure of meeting Natalie not all that long ago. And let me just say, I adored her immediately. Her huge smile and vibrant personality make it hard to dislike her even remotely. When she asked if she could assist me on any future shoots I had coming up, I was delighted! It was so much fun getting to hang out with her and get to know her better as we drove to Florence for Tony's photos. She didn't even hesitate when I asked her to go out into the Oregon coast freezing waves. (YIKES!) I can't wait to show her more techniques and to have her tag along on shoots to come. She's a doll. ♥

Portrait: Tony
It's always wonderful when you meet a child who is just so sweet and amazing. Working in the public service industry doesn't exactly give you a lot of hope as far as reproducing. The amount of balling, misbehaving children I experienced at Safeway could have given me nightmares for the rest of my life! All of those nightmares were quickly stripped away by the most easily pleased and sweetest little boy I have potentially ever met, Tony.
You would have never known by these photos that he had only received a ten minute nap before we got there. As soon as he opened his eyes, he was a happy little man with giggles on the brain. He even got to try his first Popsicle!!! Which, of course, he was not too happy to give up (One of the only 2 times he was even remotely close to being upset). It was so much fun to watch his inquisitive eyes look over everything and everyone. Tony was a complete blissful dream come true and I can't wait to get to come back and see how much he's grown for his 9 month photos in July!

Gift Boxes
I've been a busy bee these last few weeks working with my graphic designer on a few really great projects and renovations I have coming. One of which we've collectively completed and I have to show you here today!
When giving people their photos on a flash drive, I wanted something special, not just "Oh hey! Here you go!". I wanted to give them something much more aesthetically pleasing. Behold, the gift box! It sports my blog background on all sides, as well as being filled with the most amazing decorative grass. Not only is the grass clear with the most wonderful iridescent, it smells like vanilla! (YUMM!) So, all future clients alike can look forward to receiving this fabulous little box containing the flash drive they've so eagerly awaited.
Here are a few more photos for you to enjoy of my morning. I just couldn't let this gorgeous day go to waste!

Portraits: April, Autumn and Maria
I had the pleasure of getting to take my step-sister's maternity photos this week. Her and her husband live in London, so it's very rare that we get to see either one of them. It was so wonderful for all of us to spend time with her at such a a special point in her life. It will be so exciting to meet the baby boy growing in her tummy, and I can't wait!
We were also doubley blessed to have our cousin, April, in town from California. I hadn't seen her in over 3 years (Sooo long! I know!) !!! April is such a fun and silly girl. I always love spending time with her.
When we went out to do our shoot, I couldn't help but want to take photos of April's awesome style and one of Autumn's best friends, Maria, who just happens to be unbelievable gorgeous.
(They are all very, silly girls)
Autumn is always lovely to take photos of. She's an AMAZING hairdresser with absolutely fabulous style. She always wears clothes I want to steal and sports flawless make-up. Plus, she has a spunky personality and quirkiness that translates more than perfectly to photographs. Photographing her is complete bliss.
April is super punk rock and I LOVE it. Her style is polar opposite from Autumn and Maria's. So, it was a lot of fun seeing how I could rework different locations to suit her and show off her inner rockstar. She reminds me of a revamped Joan Jett, and I totally dig it. Who wouldn't want to be that cool?
Maria is darling. She's always so sweet and smart, but what would you expect from a teacher? I suspect a lot of boys have crushes on Maria (It's probably a good thing she's not a high school teacher!), but who wouldn't! She's naturally breathtaking with the most unbelievable smile. You really can't help but love her to pieces.
Hope you enjoy the photos girls! Thank you all for being so lovely and making my day so awesome. I had tons of fun with all three of you and my tummy thanks you for the yummy Cafe Yumm lunch you treated me to. :)

Seattle
I was lucky enough to get to escape last weekend up to Washington to see my brother for his birthday. I'm one of those lucky people where their best friend is also their sibling. My brother and I both love all the same shows, movies and have an identical really awkward and misunderstood sense of humor (which thank goodness my boyfriend has as well!). Needless to say, the Star Wars exhibit going on at the nearby Pacific Science Center in Seattle was a must do. The whole trip was loads of fun, but getting to see tons of real life props and costumes that were used was an absolute dream come true (Especially for my boyfriend who is a Star Wars NUT CASE). We all were practically pooping our pants and it was the greatest time ever. They also had a nice warm butterfly room which I could have just lived in for the rest of my life and been perfectly content. What's better than breathtaking butterflies all around you?! AND landing on you? (Nothing!) So here are a few photos from our day in Seattle. I hope you enjoy looking at our trip as much as we liked taking it.

Pet Photo Contest
-This Contest is Closed-
Happy April Fool's Day!
You'll be quite pleased to hear that this is NOT an April fools joke (Phew!). I repeat NOT a joke.
So, now that that's been all cleared up, we'll get to the fun part. I've decided that I'd really like to start holding sporadic contests for free photo shoots. They're not going to occur in any kind of normal or particular fashion. As wedding season is nearing on us, this will probably be the first and only one for a little while. So ... enter! Each contest will run for a month, and after that cycle, I'll pick a winner.
The theme of this particular contest is pets! Do you have a particular pet that you have an uncanny love and bond with? Do you think that you and your pet are the greatest terrible twosome that has ever occurred? Then write me at kaelynephotography@gmail.com and tell me why! It could be as short as a sentence or as long as an essay, just as long as you tell me why you love your pet so much, and include a photograph of the two of you. The winner will get a 30 minute session with yours truley complete with a cd of all the edited images (Traditionally 5-15). Contest ends April 30th, so get those submissions in pronto!
So, to inspire you in your love for your pets, here are a few pictures of me with my cat, Piglet, and my two holland lops, Amelia and Benjamin. :)
